Pekingese (Foo Dog) (Listen while you read)
Gentle are we. Protected and loved are we.
We do need to be, for we, you see, are not the average type you see.
In need of love, are we.
(Unlike the Shih Tzu, who can feel alone and unloved the gentle Pekingese receives love (similar to the baby of a loving family). He is adored and cherished and protected from many of life’s harsher moments.
He needs to be, for this personality is somewhat fragile by nature. Those about him will pamper him and coddle him.
There is also a slight weakness of his physical form.
The arms can feel a little weak; something like a thumb when it is injured; suddenly one knows that one has a thumb!
There is also a sense of weakness about the chest.
His chest is melancholy like a small boy who awaits the dawn of something that never comes.
All of these personality traits are known to those about him; or, if not known, they are suspected.
He is generally blessed with caretakers who offer the energies of love, protection and solace from a world that, they know, hold dangers for him.
They (his carers) may not always appreciate the subtleties of those dangers however, they understand that he needs their strength.
And so it is that when we are attracted to the gentle Pekingese it is a time for us to allow ourselves to receive from those about us.)
Pitt Bull (General) (Listen while you read)
By hook or by crook I’ll show ‘em.
(Yes, the Pit Bull personality is one which has an ‘edge’ to it. It refuses to believe that life cannot be good. It has a sincere nature however; when exposed to the realities of life it has a habit of retreating; it does this in order to protect itself. It has the innate desire to be of good however; this too is grounded in a reality that is built upon shifting sand. It is this innate desire to do good that causes it to see the world through ‘rose coloured glasses’, at times. If it were not for those around this personality, many a thing would not be achieved; for this personality refuses, at times, to see the consequences of their actions. Indeed, this trait can be the cause of many a Pit Bull personality’s world crashing around them when the good does not prevail.
And what is needed for this personality type to align more with the realities of life?
Just that my friends. This personality type must allow the realities of our world to enter their domain of longingness; find truth in the reality that prevails, and allow truth to be its guide, rather than the rose coloured view that causes them so much angst.)
Pomeranian (Lou Lou) (Listen while you read)
What’s this I hear, is that someone near?
With upturned ear, I hear —-what?
A friend, a foe?
Who is there?
(Wait a moment; is that you I hear; or is that me?
This and many other questions will the Pomeranian personality need to ask of himself.
Is that you or is that me?
The Pomeranian personality can become confused easily. It tends to ‘see in others’ that which it ‘sees in itself’.
This can be a very good thing if ‘what he sees in himself is good’ and yet, is it?
Now we have a dilemma; do we not?
If the Pomeranian personality sees good in himself he is likely (without investigation) to see ‘good in others’.
Indeed, if this is the case that this ‘good’ is within the subject of his concern; this is good. All will be well, for he will be seeing the truth of his subject.
However, on the other hand; if what he sees in the subject of his concern is ‘not truth’, then this is indeed not good.
Are you understanding the dilemma posed by the Pomeranian personality? Indeed. It is not a question of stupidity; merely a question of unknowingness.
Yes; the Pomeranian personality can be a little ‘naïve’ to the intricacies of other personality types.
To be sure; the Pomeranian personality is a gentle and kind, thoughtful creature whose love ‘knows no bounds’.
However, in order for the Pomeranian personality to protect himself he needs to be aware of the propensity within his nature to falsely see himself within those about him; instead of ‘who they are’…
A timely message indeed.)
Poodle (Standard) (Listen while you learn)
Look at my coat, it’s a mess.
Haven’t got time now, so much to do.
Go away, I’m busy. Go away; shoo.
So much to think about. So much to do.
Always wanting so much of me.
Always so much to do.
(So yes, we are fussy – we Poodle types. Wouldn’t you be if the whole world depended upon YOU. Yes, the whole world depends upon me. What; what you say: The whole world does not depend upon me! Wait a minute; I need to digest this…! Do you mean to say that the whole world does not depend upon me? Are you saying that life would ‘go on’ if I wasn’t there to control it? Are you saying that I could ‘take a rest’? What! Is this true? Is this realllllly true? Could I really and truly sit down and do Nothing! Nothing…..! But, but, but, what would I do if I had Nothing to do? Hmmmmmmm, let me think. I could and then I could… and then I could….. Wow, I think I could do a lot of things if I didn’t have to ‘be there’ for everything and everybody. WOW, maybe I could give myself some time; not to do my hair, or my washing, or my nails, or my shopping. No, maybe, just maybe I could give myself permission to just ‘be’… To just ’be’. Wow, that’s a new thought. Maybe I’ll just think about it for awhile… Can’t quite grasp it yet, but maybe, given a little time and thought.
Yes, my friends, this is the energy of the delightful Standard Poodle. For those of us who find ourselves in love with this proud, titillating, wondrous dog a number of questions remain unanswered. Why do we feel that we and we alone can do things right? Why do we need to be the one who takes the lead? Why do we need to be ‘there’ for all things? Won’t the world go on its merry way without us; it will one day! Why don’t we allow ourselves the time to be ourselves? Why, when all about us are losing their heads do we disapprove? Why? I’ll tell you. We need love, admiration and respect. Nothing wrong with that. We all need love, admiration and respect. However, we will find it when we are not trying to obtain it. That’s right. Love, admiration and respect will come to us when we are not trying to acquire it. So, let go, relax, have fun, let others ‘do’ for themselves and for you. Allow yourself to ‘receive’. That’s right. Allow yourself to receive. Others like to give too, you know.)
Poodle (Toy) (Listen while you read)
I do need love and care and someone to share my life.
(I’m not a strong little puppy; no, I’m not a strong little puppy; I’ll have you know. I do feel sometimes that I missed out on some ‘inner strength’; yes, I do. I feel that someone got my share of that quality that makes one strong and resilient and happy. Oh, not that I’m unhappy; no, just that I know I need the love and care of others to feel strong. I wish this weren’t so. I wish I had enough strength myself to cope with all of the things that the world throws at me; but I don’t. No, I don’t. Many a time I will feel the earth revolving, you know! Yes, I will feel the earth revolving and I wish, sometimes I wish that I could ‘jump off’. Yeah I know; sad isn’t it. And when I wish for this I do try to remember to be grateful for everything that I have but; it doesn’t always work, you know. No, it doesn’t always work. )
Pug (Listen while you read)
Another day. Another dollar.
Hallelujah brother.
(What can be said ‘bout this little critter? What indeed. We are famous for our kissers (our mouths) yes we are. We are famous for the love that we bring to those who share their lives with us. Yes we are. We are infamous for many things too. Oh, yes we are. Infamous? Indeed, infamous. You see; we are a cheeky breed. Cheeky? Indeed. We bring cheekiness to bear upon all that we do. Indeed we do. We delight in seeing you laugh. We delight in seeing you care. We delight in just about anything. This we do. And why do we delight in just about anything? This is just as we do. There is no ‘rhyme nor reason’. We just do. It is like the mosquito who buzzes about looking for food; can’t stop it ‘cause it’s just what they do. It is an integral part of us. Nothing to do with our charm or our fun, or our mischievous ways. No, it just is…..
You see, each one of us have our very own characteristics which we were born with. Yes? Yes. Each one of us has our ups and downs of character. Well, all except us, that is. We do not have any downs….!!! Here, here, I can hear all of you say. Hurrah for the little pug monster who lives down the stairs. Hip hip hoorah for the pug with the dimple on its cheek. Hurrah, hurrah. This is our energy, is it not; all of you pug monster owners? Don’t we just exude this wondrous energy and spirit of adoring qualities that seem all too fantastical and yet; we also have another aspect to our glorious little being. And what do you think that this is? You’re right….!!!! We have an enormous capacity for …….
Anything that you need….. That’s right.
We have the capacity to give to you allllllll that you hunger for. And why do we do this? Simple enough. We do this because this is our innate centre. That is right. This is our innate calling… That is right. This is something so ‘in-bred’ as to be impossible not to do…..
Can you accept this about your personality; you pug monster lover you? Can you appreciate your willingness now to go that ‘extra mile’ for those you love; for those you admire; for those in need of care? Indeed my lovely friend with the raven hair…… We love you with all our heart; with all our mind; with all our soul…..
My oh my, my dear friends; this is some puppy indeed…. Blessed are those who have these qualities. Such love have they to give. Such joy have they to share. It must be a wondrous thing to have the qualities of these bundles of energetic love.)
Rhodesian Ridgeback (African Lion Hound) (Listen while you read)
It’s a lovely day to day, so whatever you’ve got to do, I’d be so happy to be doing it with you.
(Well, well, well; what a story has the Rhodesian Ridgeback to tell. Happy to:
The Rhodesian Ridgeback is full of so much joy it should be against the law! Yes it should. Why? I’ll tell you. Once upon a time there was a young puppy. This young puppy did not know much love. No, he didn’t. Then, one day, he ‘grew up’. This he did. He ‘grew up’. This was ever so good for the little Rhodesian Ridgeback because then he could start to make his own way in life. Yes, that’s right. The little Rhodesian Ridgeback could then start to make his own decisions and such like. And why was this such an enormous event for the little Rhodesian Ridgeback.? I’ll tell you why. It was important for the little Rhodesian Ridgeback because until this time he was caught up in the ‘less than desirable’ decisions of those around him. This he was. You want more? Yes? Well, I’ll tell you more. Yesterday was not a ‘clear day’ for the little Rhodesian Ridgeback. He had to accept the misgivings of those who surrounded him. This he did. Did he bear his ‘lot’ with good grace? Yes and no. Yes because ‘what else was he to do’? And no, because deep inside him he ‘knew’ that one day he could escape the terrible decisions and make his own way in the world. And what became of the little Rhodesian Ridgeback? Well, today the little Rhodesian Ridgeback is a mighty character; full of warmth, pride, joyousness, laughter, rebellion. Rebellion? Yes rebellion. Wouldn’t you be full of rebellion if you had spent an entire lifetime tied to the strings of danger? Danger? Yes danger. What was so dangerous? The danger lay in living life in a lifeless (less than happy) manner. This is danger at its worst. To forgo happiness is a criminal offence to the soul. That it is. And today? What has become of the danger? It has gone, mostly. Yes the danger has faded and in its place lies a freedom only known to those of us who have been shackled by the whims and ideas of others.
Well, my friends; I’m sure glad that the little Rhodesian Ridgeback ‘grew up’. It would seem that many Rhodesian Ridgeback personalities have not experienced a loving youth. And yet, to learn that fun, joy, warmth and togetherness do exist must be a mighty energy to know.
Schnauzer (Standard) (Listen while you read)
Well, well, well!
I have a way of doing things which may not suit you, but it suits me. Thank you very much.
(Many of us are like this; are we not? Indeed, my friends; we may think that we are each different, one from the other however; in the main this is not the case. No, dear ones, we each like to think that ‘our’ way is best; do we not? Indeed, we do. When we admit to this, we can begin to understand the folly of our ways. Were we to investigate, we may find that there are a myriad ways of thinking and doing, that are perfectly right.
What is that, you say; how can we all be right?
Yes, my friends. We are each right, for the simple reason that we each have a slightly differing route to travel. That is right, dear friends. We each have a slightly different route to travel. In this, is the reason for the different ways of being and thinking.
Do not feel that you can understand another’s route entirely. There will be nuances of differences that you cannot perceive, no matter how hard you try. No, dear friends; we must allow our brothers and sisters of the world their own right to do and think as is best for them. This will leave us free as well. Indeed, should we not impose our will upon another; they shall not impose their will upon us. Simple, and yet not easy. No, dear friends, this is not always easy.)
Scottish Terrier (Scottie) (Listen while you read)
Over the moon and far away, over the moon and far away.
Over the moon and far away, over the moon and far away.
(Sometimes we would like to go far away; far away from the maddening crowd. The Scottish Terrier is no exception. He/she likes his own company; preferably doing something that delights. He/she is a soulful individual; prepared to disregard modern convention and allow himself/herself to indulge in fantasies that otherwise delight. And, what is meant by this?
Those who are attracted to this ‘delightful’ bundle of energetic love will also be full of energetic love. This energy needs to be expressed in the ‘free-form’ . And what is meant by ‘free-form’? This expression, used in this context, describes a manner of being that is free from the usual inhibitions of life. Yes my friends; this little bundle of free-form love needs to be unleashed and lavished upon those it adores, and upon those pursuits that bring delight.
Should this free-form expression be denied, it will sit lamenting in the soul of the individual. This, naturally, will have dire consequences as it ferments and sours.
Would we want this to happen? We hope not, dear friends. We would not like to see those of this nature refusing their own personal expression of love.)
Shar Pei (Listen while you read)
So few realise the heart, the feelings, the niceties of the inner knowing. Won’t you join me?
(Well, well, well, dear friend; so you want to know the reflection of the Shar Pei; most commendable indeed.
You see; we are an amiable type; we lovers of the Shar Pei. We do not want any trouble; no sir-ee..! We want only to go about our business and be left alone. Yes sir-ee… ! There’s really not much to say.
We enjoy life; we enjoy the smaller things of life; like going for walks; eating good food, yum; staying healthy; taking care of those we love. Yes; there’s not much to us, you know.
We enjoy moonlight walks; sunlit shores; majestic mountains. Oh yes, there’s really not that much to us, you see.
We have the need to be kind; do the right thing; remain upright in our thinking; be solid in our devotions. No, there’s really not that much to us, you see.
We love to allow you to give your love; we love to be there to receive; we love to see you sharing your love. No, there’s not much to us, you see. No, there’s not much to us, you see…..)
Shih Tzu (Listen while you read)
I just want to be loved. I’ll give anything. I’ll go anywhere. Only love me. Please love me.
(The personality of the Shih Tzu is one that needs to be loved. Generally, though not always, those of us who are attracted to the Shih Tzu have spent many a lonely hour by ourselves wondering why it is that love has forsaken us. We may be in ‘good’ relationships and yet we can feel alone and unloved. This is just an energy; one which is to be experienced (as all energies are there to be experienced).
However, this energy (that of feeling alone and unloved) can rob us of so many other experiences. To explain: It is very difficult to ‘relate’ to others who seem to be ‘in the world’. It can be difficult to ‘find oneself’; ‘know where one fits’ when this energy of aloneness and feeling unloved is present. There can be a sense of ‘separation’ from others; even though they may be as near as the next room or even within the same room.
This is the energy of the Shih Tzu. We, for whatever reason, will almost in every case, feel this energy within our lives when we are attracted to the very cute; the very sweet; the very loyal Shih Tzu.)
Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Highly strung! Perhaps I am. Keen, alert and true.
Much has man given for guys like me to do.
I’m just your average wanderer. I have a sense of pride.
I like to be alone, at times, with no one by my side.
I’m just an average puppy dog letting life go by.
Not much is happening, because I’m not that type of guy.
(Cool, calm and collected; I’d like to be that guy.
I do have a sense of self and yet I’d like to think I try
to be the type of puppy dog letting life go by
and yet here I am with no one by my side.
It sometimes feels that I’m alone and yes, my company is grand
and yet I’d like someone near and dear to sometimes lend a hand.
It would seem that although the Staffordshire Terrier personality enjoys their own company he/she would like to know that someone ‘close-by’ enjoys their frame of mind as much as they do themselves.
It isn’t always easy for those of us with ‘higher’ ideals. No; at times they can be isolating.
What would we say to the Staffordshire personality? We would say; follow your dream, dear heart. Do not waiver in your attempt for perfection; it is a wonderful goal.)
Tibetan Spaniel (Listen while you read)
I’m adroit, I’m sweet, I’m clever too; and unlike most, I’m modest too.
(Well, well, well my dear friends; so you would like to know the personality type of the beautiful and clever Tibetan Spaniel. Such wonder to behold; such beauty in its gaze; such delight to be had in its company. Yes my friends, the Tibetan Spaniel is a mix of qualities quite to treasure.
Those who adore and love this little dog of mixed personality will share its like and its dislikes. Indeed they will my friends because this little dog is the portrayal of those with whom they live their lives; are they not you Tibetan Spaniel lover!
Firstly; he/she (the Tibetan Spaniel lover) will share such qualities as friendliness; outgoing and vulnerable. Vulnerable, we hear you say! Yes, the Tibetan Spaniel lover will have a vulnerability that will make them almost irresistible. We say ‘almost’ because the Tibetan Spaniel personality will also have an edge to it that can discern between those who should be friends, and those who should not.
Yes, not only does the Tibetan Spaniel personality have charm and wit, it also possesses the ability to gauge those with whom it comes into contact.
Should you be one for whom the Tibetan Spaniel personality has warmth; count your blessings dear heart….!)
Tibetan Terrier (Lhasa Terrier) (Listen while you read)
Not much to do…….
Guess I’ll…………………………..Well……………………………Hmmmmmmmmmmm…………………
I could……..But then……………………I might…………Hmm…………………………… Blank…
(Not much to do really..! No; there’s not much to do.
And this portrays the inner workings of the personality of those attracted to the Tibetan Terrier. To be sure they, those who adore these feisty little critters, have get up and go; it’s just that there ‘get up and go’ needs a bit of a push along, if you know what we mean…!
To those who love this little critter we say: Don’t allow that inbred capacity for loafing to fool you. No; we would not want to see you wasting ‘all of your life away’; no indeed. To be sure; you have a wonderful capacity for learning, for getting those things in life that you aim for; do you not? Indeed, my friend, we know that within you are many desires; indeed, many unfulfilled desires; yes there are. However; my dear friend, your capacity for loafing about will not get you what you want. To have those things that you desire you will need to rise up and go after those desires with as much gusto as you can manage.
T’would be a shame to reach the end of your time on earth only to say: “Wish I’d done more with my life.”)
Vizsla (Hungarian Pointer) (Listen while you read)
Many troubles pass us by. We don’t wish to see.
Frantic at times. Not able to rest.
On the move.
On the go.
No time to rest.
(We are complicated; we Vizsla types; gentle folk too. Not to be disturbed, comes to mind as does gallantry and champion. We may be softly spoken however, our words run deep. They need to because they ‘are’ deep; those thoughts of ours.
At times we’d rather ‘look away’. Yes. At times we’d rather look away from the ‘horribleness’ of what surrounds. We go within; yes, most of us Vizsla types prefer our own world. Yes; our own world is more to our liking.
Why? I’ll tell you why. Life on this planet can be a little harsh, at times. This it surely can. We ‘know’ this; we surely do. Knowing this and appreciating the finer things in life; what would you choose? Would you choose harshness; or would you choose the finer things? Finer things like fun; poetry, musings of the mind; gentleness; laughter; songs; traffic; just kidding!
Isn’t life easier when we just allow all of that harshness to go on its merry way; leave us alone; do what it is going to do; without me?
Yes; life can be harsh and therefore I don’t get in its way.
Sometimes though (when I don’t see it coming) life hands me another set of woes.
What are they? Well, they come in the form of rushing. Yes, my woes can be things like rushing about doing this and doing that and not having enough time to do it all. I can’t seem to keep still. I can’t; even when I’m still. Yes, I’m rushing about even when I‘m still. Can’t rest; can’t wait; can’t ‘get it’. Get what? Can’t get that elusive thing called peace. I know it’s there; I know it’s there; I know it’s there, but where?
Yes my friends, these are some of the energies associated with the versatile, gentle, loveable Vizsla energies. It is not that the Vizsla wishes to hide its head in the sand. No, this would not do. It is more a case that the Vizsla types ‘see’ far better than most. The rushing; the seeming ‘head in sand’ stance is merely a protective measure used to enhance life as best as he/she can. Nothing wrong with that!)
Welsh Highland White Terrier (Westie) (Listen while you read)
A twinkle in me eye; a bird on a bush; a flower in a meadow; so many wonders about all.
Ahhhhhhh… life’s grand!
(Yes, life is indeed grand for this little fellow. He is able to see the good and the not so good and yet, not be overwhelmed by either. A wonderful ability is this! He/she, the Westie personality, will have many strings to their bow. Indeed, many things shall this personality be able to do. At times though, this can have its disadvantages as this personality comes to terms with its own possessions. Yes, this personality possesses many talents and strives to do all of them. What is needed for this personality, is to adjust to what is appropriate; not an easy task for such talent. No, this personality will be a late bloomer (generally) due to the ability to see more and to do more than the average puppy, so to speak.
We would suggest taking it easy; Rome was not built in a day, and neither will you be. Does it matter if your talents go unneeded? Does it matter if the world sees your prowess? Does it matter if you do not affect the ‘entire’ world with your abilities? No dear friend, it does not matter one iota. What does matter is your ability to enjoy your life; and, given all of your very substantial talent, this should not be a problem. What remains is for you to accept your limitations, and enjoy those things that come to you easily and through your own personal efforts.
Yes my friend, success can be viewed in a multitude of ways. Personal success will have the greater degree of satisfaction when one realises that few really care.)
Whippet (Listen while you read)
Take me for a walk. Give me a bone. Get me a stick. Look at that. What is there? Where is that? Who goes there? Why is this?………………………and on…………
………and on………………….and on………………..and on.
(Owwww go on; ya said ya would….
Always makin’ promises, yeah. Always makin’ promises that they never keep. Ah well, that’s life; I guess. Ya never know what’s around the next corner. Na, that’s for sure. Ya never know and it doesn’t matter if ya did, ‘cause there ain’t nothin’ ya can do about it.
No sir-ee; there’s nothin’ ya can do about it. Not that I’m a pessimist; no, that’s not my style. I’m not a pessimist; but I am a realist. Yep; that’s what I am; a realist with a yearning for truth. Yep, that’s me. I like the truth, you know. Yep; I like people to be honest with me.
Doesn’t matter if it hurts. Sometimes the truth does hurt. Ouch, ya can say that again…… Yep, it hurts but….. I’d much rather ya tell me the truth than tell me some cock and bull story that’s full o’ holes… Yes sir-ee. Full of holes some stories…..!
Well how refreshing is the Whippet personality…..! It has surprised me because somehow I thought it was going to be a gentle energy with a rather diplomatic edge to it and yet; in reality it is a very down to earth quality with an insistence upon truth as it’s guide.)
(If you don’t find the reflection you’re looking for. I’d be more than happy to include it for you.)
Yorkshire Terrier (Listen while you read)
Oh, how I would love to be strong;
to see life through a strong heart;
to be merry and gay and dally all day, singing and happy in song.
(Oh, yes, my dear friends; to be strong and to see life through a strong heart; wouldn’t we all like to be this way!
Alas, for some this is not possible.
Many have not the capacity for such bravery.
Indeed, some sit by the roadside and watch. Others walk along the road, whilst some run.
Each to his own, as the saying goes. Each to his own, for one way does not suit all.
And this is what the Yorkshire Terrier personality needs to remember as it sits, walks and runs along the road.
Indeed, the road for the Yorkshire Terrier will have ‘many a turn’. One day sitting, one day walking, one day running; all quite natural and good for this personality type.
Yes, my friends, it is better to learn this lesson early, should you be attracted to this precious pooch.
Chapters change, and move with the time.
You would do well to apply this saying to yourself…
“I am what I am; unlike any other”.
This will allow you to view the world in your way, remembering that “to each his own” holds much sway.)
