American Paint Horse Reflection

American Paint Horse   (Listen while you read)

A prancing we will go

A prancing we will go

High Ho the Dairy’o

A prancing we will go.

The farmer takes a wife

The farmer takes a wife

High Ho the Dairy’o

The farmer takes a wife.

And what does it matter if the farmer takes a wife?

It matters only to the farmer.

And this is what the American Paint Horse reminds us.

Allow yourself to be free; free from opinions.

Yes, that’s right. When we are ‘free from opinions’ we allow others the right to be free.

Simple, yes?  Yes, simple.

Too many burden themselves with opinions; opinions that hide their need to be heard and understood.

Indeed, my friends; it is our opinions that ‘give us away’; is it not?

Yes?  No?

Indeed, dear ones; our opinions showcase our knowledge, our lack, our misconceptions.

Were we to allow others the right to do as they wish without offering our opinion; what would be the outcome?

That’s right. The outcome would, in most cases, not change.

The farmer would still ‘take a wife’.

That’s right.

And we would be safe in the confines of our silence.

Hedgehog Reflection

Day’s end…..Can’t wait for day’s end.

Giving up, dear one?

Are you going to give up on living a life that suits ‘you’?

It doesn’t have to suit any other person, dear heart; this is true; as long as it suits YOU.

_

Think upon this and see if what you want to do, and what others want for you to do is one and the same. Then think upon the matter of – whose life are you living?

(Sometimes we do this, don’t we; we live the life that others want us to live, which is not necessarily what we may want to do.

And, why do we do this?

Sometimes we do this because we fear not doing this. Sometimes we may feel obligated.

And, what does obligation lead to?

I’ll tell you, dear friend. Obligation leads to a life that we do not necessarily enjoy. It is that simple. Obligation can sometimes be a road to dismay. Indeed this can be true.

And, why do we feel obligated?

Sometimes we can feel obligated when someone does us ‘a good turn’, so to speak. Indeed. When someone does us a good turn, we feel obligated.

And, what is a ‘good turn’?

It can be as simple as giving us birth, or it can be as complicated as allowing us to use their material possessions. Indeed, it can be great or small.

Obligation is a ‘double edged sword’ that can lead to dismay.

And so, what can we do when we feel obligated?

We can think upon this to ensure that it doesn’t prove a ‘double edged sword’. We can investigate our feelings to ensure that we are not placing ourselves into a position which shall cause us dismay. For, if we do, are we not doing ourselves an injustice?

Yes, or no?

This is the question that we must pose to ourselves whenever we feel an obligation.)

Yorkshire Terrier Reflection

Yorkshire Terrier   (Listen while you read)

Oh, how I would love to be strong;

to see life through a strong heart;

to be merry and gay and dally all day, singing and happy in song.

Oh, yes, my dear friends; to be strong and to see life through a strong heart; wouldn’t we all like to be this way!

-

Alas, for some this is not possible.

Many have not the capacity for such bravery.

Indeed, some sit by the roadside and watch. Others walk along the road, whilst some run.

Each to his own, as the saying goes. Each to his own, for one way does not suit all.

And this is what the Yorkshire Terrier personality needs to remember as it sits, walks and runs along the road.

Indeed, the road for the Yorkshire Terrier will have ‘many a turn’. One day sitting, one day walking, one day running; all quite natural and good for this personality type.

Yes, my friends, it is better to learn this lesson early, should you be attracted to this precious pooch.

Chapters change, and move with the time.

You would do well to apply this saying to yourself…

“I am what I am; unlike any other”.

This will allow you to view the world in your way, remembering that “to each his own” holds much sway.

Gentle are we. Protected and loved are we.

We do need to be, for we, you see, are not the average type you see.

In need of love, are we.

(Unlike the Shih Tzu (who can feel alone and unloved) the gentle Pekingese receives love (similar to the baby of a loving family). He is adored and cherished and protected from many of life’s harsher moments.

He needs to be, for this personality is somewhat fragile by nature. Those about him will pamper him and coddle him.

There is also a slight weakness of his physical form.

The arms can feel a little weak; something like a thumb when it is injured; suddenly one knows that one has a thumb!

There is also a sense of weakness about the chest.

His chest is melancholy like a small boy who awaits the dawn of something that never comes.

All of these personality traits are known to those about him; or, if not known, they are suspected.

He is generally blessed with caretakers who offer the energies of love, protection and solace from a world that, they know, hold dangers for him.

They (his carers) may not always appreciate the subtleties of those dangers however, they understand that he needs their strength.

And so it is that when we are attracted to the gentle Pekingese it is a time for us to allow ourselves to receive from those about us.)

Snake (General) Reflection

Snake (General)   (Listen while you read)

What ya doin’? Time for a change.

Time to let everything go.

Time to begin again.

(How very beautiful are snakes!

Each species has a unique energy however, underneath this energy is a general energy that all snakes (all species) possess.

This energy is the energy of change. Yes, my friends, when we are attracted to the snake world we are being attracted to constant change within our lives; within our minds; within our attitudes; within our hobbies; within our circle of friends; within and within and within goes the energy of constant change. Upgrading; one may say, to higher and higher levels of consciousness.

When we are constantly changing there is a need for us to realise that ‘what we were’ before the change is ‘still with us’; still with us in the sense of ‘energy’; and, this energy needs to be released else it do us harm.

When we release old energies such as old attitudes; old patterns of behaviour; old friends, etc., etc., there comes a need to grieve.

Yes, even when the releasement is for the better there is still a time to grieve. We must allow grieving to occur else we suffer the pain of undiagnosed emotional hurt remaining within us.

Too many of us are burdened with the pain of old energies. They may be stuck in our tummies, our backs, our hearts and indeed, in many a nook and cranny.

Yes, my friends, we each harbour old energies within if we do not recognise that old energies linger, and need to be released.

Yes, constant change is what we shall experience when we are attracted to the snake world.

And, isn’t ‘life’ constant change; if we allow it to be?

Life; constant change; life.

Are we going to allow ourselves to ‘love’ or ‘fear’ change?

Are we going to allow ourselves to release the old energies?

Are we going to ‘live’ life to its full?

These are some of the questions we may care to ask ourselves when we are attracted to the ever changing snake family.)

Wolf (General) Reflection

Wolf  (General)   (Listen while you read)

Dakota, a Grey Wolf at the UK Wolf Conservation Trust, howling atop a snowy hill.

Dakota, a Grey Wolf at the UK Wolf Conservation Trust, howling atop a snowy hill.

What is this for? Do we know? Are we to be led, or are we to lead?

These, and more, are the questions we need to ask of ourselves as we journey along life’s path; for without the answers we are but leaves in the wind. Are we not?

(There are many questions we need to ask of ourselves as we venture along the road. Many of these questions go unanswered; indeed, many are not often thought about.

Why is this so?

This is so, my friends, because we often do not slow down sufficiently for these questions to surface. Indeed, many of us are so busy directing our lives, we fail to take note of the many signposts along the way; signposts that would (should we allow) ask of us to deliberate upon many of life’s pressing needs.

Indeed, we say ‘pressing needs’ for many of us fail to realise the seriousness of our lives.

The wolf is indeed a wondrous example of one who recognises these ‘signposts’. Were it not for ‘checking for signposts’ the wolf would fall into many traps; both mental and physical.

Therefore, we would ask of you this day to watch for the ‘signposts’ that will ask you to alter your course; whether that be physically, mentally or spiritually.

Yes, my friends, the wolf  seeks this from you this day.

Will you listen, or will fail to see?)

Go away! Please go away.

I don’t want to make a nuisance of myself; so please go away!

(I’m a little shy; you know.

Well, I think you know that…. Yes, I think you know that I’m a little shy; so I’ll tell you some things about myself you may not know….

Ahemmm, ahemmmm. Right; where shall I start?

Well, I think I’ll start with my favourite things. Yes, that’s a good place to start.

Well, my favourite things…. My favourite things….!

Well, I like to feel cosy. Yes, that can be number 1. I like to feel cosy.

Do you? Do you like to feel ‘cosy’? Yes? Good, that’s one thing we have in common.

Now, number 2. What is my number 2 favourite thing?

I know; I like to have plenty of good things to eat. Do you? Yes? Good; that’s 2 things that we have in common.

Now, number 3. What’s third in my list of favourite things?

I know; I like to take long walks. Yes, that’s right; I like to take long walks. Do you? Yes? Maybe? No?

Well, we may have to disagree on that one. But honestly; how many things there ‘are’ that we both like to do, will certainly outweigh the other side of the ledger.

Don’t you think?

So what is it you are saying?

It’s really very simple.

We represent the energy of likeness; a likeness between you and me. We’re not so very different you see.

We both need rest, food, shelter, clothing; well YOU need clothing.

We need to feel loved. We need to feel needed. We need our happiness to be taken care of.

Happiness?

Yes, happiness. We all need to take care of our ‘happiness’; who will if we don’t?

So, yes we need to take care of our ‘happiness’.

So you see; we’re not so different really. The bottom line is ‘the bottom line’ for each and every one of us.

No, we are not so very different after all.)

Aardvark Reflection

Aardvark    (Listen while you read)

AardvarksWhat nonsense!

The world is square; yes it is.

I know this for a fact! I know because I read it somewhere.

Yes I did.

That makes it true!

Doesn’t it?

Doesn’t it make it true because it was written somewhere?

Well…….maybe I’ll investigate that to see if it is true.

Maybe it’s not true.

Maybe just because it is written somewhere doesn’t mean that it is true.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm ……. Have to investigate!

(Well, well, well; it would seem that the Aardvark believes most things he reads; this is true my friends.

It would seem that the Aardvark likes to think that all people are truthful.

Well, wouldn’t that be a lovely thing were this to be true? However, as most of us know, there are those who enjoy telling exaggerated stories in order to impress.

This they do, dear hearts.

There are others who insist that what they say is true, when they know (deep inside) their message may be tainted by lies and misconceptions.

Yes, my friends; it is better not to judge the character of the story-teller however, it is best to judge the story. Indeed, all have their frailties; we, none of us is perfect. And yet, were we to take each story as factual evidence of a state of reality, we may be more than disappointed by the resultant consequences.

Therefore, my dear friends, judge not the story teller however, most certainly take the story into your secret hiding place of the heart, and whilst there allow your heart to decipher the truth.

It shall not let you down, dear one.)

Leopard (General) Reflection

Leopard (General)   (Listen while you read)

Well, well, well. So you think you know all that there is to know?

Huh, that’s what I say; huh.

If you think that you know ‘all that there is to know’, then tell me; go on, tell me.

I bet that you don’t know everything!

You should look inside your own cupboard before you look into others; that’s for sure.

(Many of us do that; don’t we! We take a gander into the lives of others, and allow our own lives to meander here and there.

What do we mean by this?

It is simple, dear ones.

We look into the lives of others; yes, we put our noses into the laundry of others and watch them get dirty.

“Oh,” we hear you say. “We do not do this…!”

Oh yes, my friends; we do, do this; indeed we do.

We are all guilty of this; it is a simple human trait that we all share; the trait of being ‘nosey’.

“Oh,” we here you say again. “We do not do this!”

And yet, dear friends; we know that with a little quiet contemplation you will begin to see where your nose is looking into the laundry basket of others, whilst your own laundry may need a clean.

That’s right, my dear friends. Our laundry may need a clean.

Once this is done, and we understand why our laundry gets soiled we may not care to investigate the laundry habits of others. This shall be the result of ‘understanding and compassion’ for the myriad ways that we each soil our clothing. Indeed.)

Possum (General) Reflection

Possum   (Listen while you read)

Well, hi there..!  How be you today, my good friend. Would you like some company?

(Yes, this little creature loves company. He generally behaves in a fashion that would suggest he likes his own company.

However, do not be fooled, dear friends. No, do not be fooled by his outward actions, for indeed this little fellow does not like to be alone.

There are many like this; are there not? Indeed, this is true.

There are many who (like the possum) prefer not to be alone, and yet they can be seen alone. Yes, this happens to many. They prefer company, and yet they ‘keep to themselves’.

And, why do they keep to themselves?

This is an easy question to answer.

They keep to themselves because they are afraid.

And, of what are they afraid?

That is right, my dear friends. They are afraid that they will not be liked; and so they keep to themselves.

We all know someone like this; do we not?

Indeed.)
